The REFRESH team presented a poster on assessing life cycle impacts of food waste at the Recy&DepoTech conference last week in Leoben, Austria. This bi-annual conference is one of the most important waste conferences in German-speaking areas and had more than 500 participants. The conference equally addresses researchers and practitioners.

The REFRESH poster presented explains the newly developed REFRESH Situations, a framework for assessing life cycle impacts of food waste prevention, valorisation and treatment. The REFRESH Situations help in assessing both environmental life cycle impacts as well as life cycle costing (LCA and LCC). Using the poster as a starting point also the wider ambition of the REFRESH project could be discussed with the participants.

We are happy to announce that the REFRESH poster was awarded the third place in the poster competition.

The poster and publications with more detailed results will be available on the REFRESH website before the end of 2016. If you would like to know more about the poster, please contact Nicole Unger at nicole.unger@boku.ac.at.
